A former Texas high school teacher arrested in two felony counts of having an improper relationship with a student, reports the CBS affiliate KEYE.
The prosecutor is recommending deferred adjudication probation of 10 years, but the judge has to sign off on the probation recommendation. KEYE reports that Wey will not have to register as a sex offender.
Wey, was a math teacher at the Westlake High School until October 2015, when she was arrested and accused of having relationships with two 17-year-old boys for pair of months. Police say that the crimes occurred during the summer and fall of 2015. Under the Texas law, it is illegal for teachers to have sex with the students, even if they are at least aged 17, the state’s legal age of consent.
One victim allegedly told to police he met Wey at a “student ministry program” in June 2015, and then later in the summer Wey accompanied his family on a trip to Africa.
A detective wrote in the arrest affidavit, “The victim said while in Africa his relationship with Ms. Wey become more personal and on a deeper level. The victim stated while in Africa their relationship became physical.”

The victim allegedly told the police that he had sex with Wey more than 10 times after the trip, but he stopped the relationship with her, after he heard the rumor saying that she went on a hike with the second victim.
According to the affidavit, sexual contact on that hike, in the September 2015, led to second set of the charges. Wey and the second victim had been communicating with each other through the social media since the start of school year in 2015. The arrest affidavit included reference to a series of texts between Wey and the victim which shows her inviting the victim on the hike and then asking the victim to delete the conversation from their phone.
The court documents say a juvenile witness found the exchange on the victim’s phone and alerted the authorities. The victim then provided details of the improper encounter to the investigators during an interview.
Authorities became aware of the incident when one of the victims told his parents about the crime, and the parents notified to the police. On March 10, Wey will be sentenced.
