On Monday, India Yamaha Motor (IYM) unveiled the FZ-S Fi Hybrid, priced at ₹1,44,800 (ex-showroom). This marks Yamaha's initial foray into hybrid motorcycles in India, with the new model costing ₹10,000 more than the traditional FZ-S Fi version. Under the hood, the FZ-S Fi is powered by a 149 cc Blue Core engine, which now meets OBD-2B standards. This engine incorporates Yamaha's Smart Motor Generator (SMG) and Stop & Start System (SSS), enhancing performance with quieter starts and battery-assisted acceleration. These features also improve fuel economy by automatically turning off the engine during idle periods and allowing it to restart swiftly with a simple clutch pull. However, the company has yet to disclose the expected fuel efficiency.
Visually, the motorcycle retains much of its previous design, although a noteworthy update is the inclusion of integrated front turn signals now located within the air intake area. The FZ-S Fi Hybrid also presents a new 4.2-inch full-colour TFT display that connects to smartphones through the Y-Connect app. This display offers Turn-by-Turn navigation linked to Google Maps, providing real-time directions, navigation indices, intersection details, and road identifiers.
Yamaha has optimized the handlebar for enhanced comfort during extended rides, and the handlebar switches have been redesigned for improved access. The horn switch has been relocated for increased user-friendliness and comfort. Additionally, the fuel tank is equipped with an airplane-style cap that stays attached while refuelling. The 2025 FZ-S Fi Hybrid is available in two shades: Racing Blue and Cyan Metallic Grey. Itaru Otani, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group, stated, "By integrating hybrid technology into this segment, we are enhancing performance and underscoring our dedication to delivering advanced, rider-centric innovations. Each refinement in the FZ series has been guided by customer feedback, ensuring a more polished, dynamic, and engaging riding experience."
